How to Install a Wall Oven: Step By Step Guide

  1. Prepare The Space: Before you begin, make sure the electrical circuit is turned off and the wall where you plan to install the oven is clear. Next, use a stud finder to locate the wall studs and mark their location with a pencil. Then Measure the height of the oven and make sure the space between the countertop and the bottom of the wall cabinet is equal to the height of the oven.
  2. Remove Doors: Once your space is properly prepped and ready to be used, remove the oven doors of your new and old appliances before removing the anchoring screws. Then you will need to cut the electrical wiring.
  3. Junction Box: Locate the junction box and connect the electrical wiring, often times this is located 3” above or below the cabinet cutout. If you can not find the box, it may be behind the wall, and will need to cut an opening to access it. Review your installation manual for in-depth details.
  4. Add Oven Feet: Lay the oven on its back to easily apply the oven feet, you may need the help of an additional person to carefully tilt the oven into this position. How you attach the feet depends on whether you are installing a single or double-wall oven, refer to your installation manual for the right instructions.
  5. Electrical Connection: Once the feet are securely on, place the oven in front of where it will be placed and follow your instruction manual on the proper wiring. We suggest using electrician's tape to match the colors when connecting the wires to the oven.
  6. Gas Ovens: If you are installing a gas oven, wrap a thread seal around the gas valve nipple and thread the gas valve coupler from the oven to the nipple. Then tighten it with an adjustable wrench.
  7. Insert Oven: With the help of another individual, lift the oven into place and secure it with screws. Finally, reattach the doors and any trimming that comes with the model.
